People either hate them or love them. I have no use for any of the modern day computer operated motorcycles. My 99 Harley Softail Custom Has been trouble free. In 67,000 miles I replaced one stator. The rest is just routine maintenance. My Harley looks like a motorcycle. But then, I am 83 years old and ride for a different reason than most. I am happy cruising the back roads around where I live. I started riding Harleys in 1955 when I was 14. My first one was a 1942 "45" flat head. So, my personal preference is older Harleys. No fuel injection or water cooling. I love the simplicity of the older less high tech machines. To each his own.

my local HD dealership is dead nowadays, i have a 2023 mt09sp but took a nightster for an a hour long solo test ride, not impressed, poor suspension and handling, headers and exhaust got so hot, my mt09 is so much better, and cheaper!.

Great space. You might need some sound treatment and ventilation for your equipment. Plus darker paint on the front wall and ceiling. Other than that it is really nice.

Trikes are for obese people, peoples with knee pain, back pain, and new riders that don't feel like balancing on a motorcycle. Trikes are much safer for the rider and other vehicles because they are bigger and easier to see. Also a trike is way harder to flip like a regular motorcycle which can tip easily if you hit a slick spot by accident. I knew a guy that had his body removed from the road with a shovel because he hit a slick spot on a turn and and went flying in the semi truck. I debated on getting into riding but I have bad knees and probably would probably need a trike I can barely balance on a bicycle anymore. I am a younger guy that blew out both of my ACLs in college football. Both were repaired but the knee pain never gone away. The old school Harley and chopper trikes are pretty neat looking. A trike is also a lot smother on riders even at fast speeds which is nice for people with back and knee pain.

OK, Hoss. You talked about the importance of good gear and safety while riding. Looks like you are riding a black bike with black jacket and pants, except for the airbag vest. You ought to go all Hi-Viz. At least wear a Hi-Viz helmet. Cops and highway troopers on bikes usually wear a white helmet. That is because a rider's head is the first thing seen by others on the road. Tests have shown that riders with the most noticeable helmet colors are the safest. We visually process what we are looking at from left to right and top to bottom.

Genuinely no dis man. U mentioned all the typical excuses for not buying a Harley bro. U were obviously at least somewhat interested in a harley or u wouldn't have all that dealer footage. Man I get it... if u think Harleys are overpriced or the value isn't what other brands offer, than HD is not for u. But don't dis a rider bc of his bike. That's exactly what u say harley riders do. I know there are D-bags in the harley camp. Hell there are D-bags everywhere. And elites within the community aren't only a HD thing... what about the track guys who looks down on other riders bc they don't do track days. Man u have made all the cliché jokes about Harley riders but have said nothing. By the way, the "squid" u were mocking... most HD riders would tell him to at least wear jeans n boots while riding. But I've seen that same appearl on a sport bike. So... 🤷‍♂️

I'll be the first to 100% say it. I wear shorts and a shirt every time I ride. It's a stupid choice. I should be safer. I want to be safer but I know the first and I want to be comfortable. I'm building up my gear and learning how to find a comfort and usability level. The first thing I wish I'd have done before buying a bike is saving for a year, trying out gear and riding other people's bikes so I could start out with everything. I also really wish that we could end no helmet states. I mean shit If you wanna wear a helmet that does barely anything for you you could at least get a half shell.

Buying a motorcycle is a personal choice. A lot of factors come into play when choosing a bike. The type of riding that you like, the looks of the bike, the power, the sound, etc. Other people may try to convince you to buy the bike that they like or they ride, but in the end it’s your money you’re spending and it’s your choice. You know you bought the right bike when just by looking at it, makes you smile. It makes you smile when you sit on it, it gives you joy when you start the engine and you hear the sound. You forget all your problems when you ride it and gives younthe feeling that everything is ok. That’s how I feel when I ride my Harley, and I’m sure that’s how you feel when you ride your bike too. Just be happy with what you have. We are all bikers and we should all respect each other regardless of what we are riding. Ride safe everyone. Peace!

I got a Helite 2 like half a year, but I only use it when I get on the bigger bike. Tiny one, just armor, jackets and pants.

the 690 is better if you get the windshield also it will pull up and flip over in 1 2 and 3 no problem also turn off the tc youre riding with it on I can seee the lights aren't off

Not to be one of those guys but that is an expensive price. I just got ran off the highway in October of last year. Broke five ribs and messed up my knee. If I could afford one of the vest's I would definitely use it. I took out an exit sign with my chest and it ripped my motorcycle boots off and my helmet. Just went back to work this last week for the first time since October of last year. I lived to tell about it. Definitely didn't scare me off but it totaled my new bike and can't afford another one right now.

Kinda reminds me of the people who think you are gonna get eaten by a shark if ya go in the ocean. I'm a lifelong surfer. I always ask, are you really that lucky? People find out I ride motorcycles, and it's automatic. You are going to die. I just shake my head and let them know I would rather be dead than not enjoy the things I like to do. I get it. People mean well. But. Ain't none of us getting out of here alive. IMHO

Regarding gear. Every veteran rider I've talked to has told me to get the best gear I can get. Make the cosmetics stuff the last things you spend on.

I’m from the south and have lived in 8 states. I’ve found that the mid-mid west (Ohio, Indiana, Missouri) have the nicest people.

I noticed with loud exhaust people do notice me more. Less likely to get doored. But yeah you still need to ride defensively. I would avoid riding loud exhaust at night where can attract criminals and disturb sleeping people.

I had a KTM Duke 2 once and it was pure fun. However, the fun stopped at the highway with all the wind and vibrations etc. In addition my ass was hurtin big time. Not the most comfortable of rides. So I ended up selling it cause I just couldn't bare longer trips on the highway with it. Watching this video brought back the fun memories, cause on twisty roads and urban driving nothing beats SM bikes, that's for sure. I belive they are all going electric soon, bringing instant throttle response and even more hysterical acceleration. Thanks for sharing.

The term “loud exhaust saves lives” was developed by motorcyclist back in the day, when people/pedestrians/Karen’s were trying to fight back against loud exhaust, and calling it unnecessary noise pollution, and trying to get it outlawed, like loud music is in some cities.. It was just our way of justifying having loud exhaust.

I am one of the anti overpriced and semi-useful airbag vest riders. Remember, we're NOT all the same. I'm an older rider with a very tight budget. I only have 10 or 15 years left on my healthspan, and that almost $800 on a vest I can put to much better use. I've Lived grand adventures of 2 or 3 average men in my 70 years. So what if I expire in a crash now?

First bike was a Harley and I did the course at the Harley. Davidson space coast and the instructor was so against sport. Bikes, it didn't make any sense. They are completely different bikes. I don't understand the division.
